Thanh Bui

She found her calling early in life. As a child, Thanh was the leader of many self-created clubs, all notoriously selective with their members and all united by her enthusiasm to make things happen. Today, she holds the vital position of the heart of our Youth programming as the leader of a team of intelligent and passionate staff committed to inspiring young leaders. With over a decade of experience creating and delivering programs, Thanh is an expert in supporting youth academic achievement, raising their confidence, and cultivating leadership skills through service learning and civic engagement.

Since joining the team in 2003, she has taken on roles of increasing responsibility; in 2014, she spearheaded a Professional Development Institute as well as a STEM summer day camp that promotes inquiry through hands-on projects and real-world STEM applications. She manages a $4M budget focused on expanding learning time for 2,000 young people and their families in three NYCHA community centers, a Beacon Center, and numerous NYC schools. Thanh has a Bachelors in women’s studies and painting from Binghamton University and Masters in Urban Policy Analysis and Management from the Robert J. Milano Graduate School, New York University. She speaks English, Vietnamese and Cantonese.
