We empower youth to explore life’s possibilities, discover what drives them, lead themselves and others, and achieve impact in their lives and the community. This means that youth can grow independently and with their families, enabling them to join a close, supportive community.

The best part about joining our family is that you can keep coming back. Year after year, youth return to be part of The Clubhouse Network, sports teams, summer camps and afterschool programs. At Grand St. Settlement, you have a crew you can count on and staff with a whole lot of heart.

We offer youth programming and activities at our Community Centers, partner school sites, and other neighborhood locations.

EXPLORING TALENTS

Cultivate talents and spark curiosity as you explore your interests and define your dreams for the future. There’s always a lot going on in afterschool, over the weekends, and during school and summer holidays.

DISCOVERING OPPORTUNITIES

Find what matters most to you. Whether you want to build your own robot, make the team, shoot a film, or choreograph a dance, we have the team and the opportunities for you to get into it.

LEADING CHANGE

Be the leader you want to follow. Make it your choice in decisions about your health, your relationships and your life. Between our dedicated staff and your awesome peers, you’ll find plenty of inspiration and support.

ACHIEVING DREAMS

Learn a line of code or how to dunk – whatever it is you want to accomplish, we’re here to help make it happen. Graduate, lead a project, get a new job, apply for school… we’re in the business of taking dreams and goals and making them real.

Afterschool

Grand St. Settlement offers afterschool programming as part of the Comprehensive After School System (COMPASS), a nationally acclaimed network for school aged youth from kindergarten through high school graduation. From homework help and mentoring to robotics, dance and recreation, there is always a lot going on.

Summer Camp

The tradition of summer camp has been alive at Grand St. Settlement for nearly 100 years. It’s a time of expanded horizons and new knowledge, and is considered to be the most important time of year to keep youth learning and safe.

Best Buy Teen Tech Center

Located at 168 Broome St. in Essex Crossing, the Best Buy Teen Tech Center, is a maker space for teens to create, innovate, and explore using state-of-the-art technology and their interest in all things STEM. Teens ages 13-18 have the opportunity to create objects with 3D printers, produce music in the recording booth, design their own video games, explore virtual reality, and more thanks to state of the art equipment provided by Best Buy.

Project Speak Out Loud

Project Speak Out Loud! (PSOL) is a youth peer education program supported by Queer, Black, Indigenous, People of Color ages 14-24 and their allies. Peer educators provide free sexuality education workshops that are sex-positive, comprehensive, and inclusive to community members throughout NYC. PSOL’s goal is to build LGBTQIA+ cultural competency through a reproductive justice lens and provide safer spaces in NYC for LGBTQIA+ youth to express themselves and be heard.

AmeriCorps

Grand St. Settlement’s AmeriCorps team brings over 30 youth together to lead initiatives and service projects while building job skills and experience.

The Clubhouse Network

Grand St. Settlement is a proud member of The Clubhouse Network, which provides creative, safe, and free out-of-school learning environments for young people from underserved communities. They work with adult mentors to explore their own ideas, develop new skills, and build confidence in themselves through the use of technology.

Community Schools

Grand Street’s Community Schools provide youth with wrap around services that help them succeed in their educational, emotional, and personal lives.
